An Analysis of the Qur’anic Model of Cultural Immunization in the Face of Cultural Hegemony

Abstract

In the contemporary world, where cultures are exposed to rapid and complex global transformations, cultural hegemony and cultural invasion constitute two of the most critical challenges facing Islamic societies. The profound impact of these phenomena on cultural identity and structures underscores the need for precise and effective strategic responses. Within this context, “cultural immunization” emerges as an influential preventive strategy for countering such threats. Using the method of semantic analysis (dalālah-based research) of Qur’anic verses and relying on library-based data, this study identifies the foundations, principles, and mechanisms of Qur’anic cultural immunization and clarifies their role in confronting cultural invasion. The central hypothesis posits that the Qur’an, through its lexical, rational, and structural indications, outlines an integrated epistemic and value-based framework capable of safeguarding the cultural identity of the Islamic community. The findings indicate that the Qur’anic model of cultural immunization is organized around three major domains: ideological foundations, cultural policy principles, and cultural defensive mechanisms. Each domain plays a vital role in strengthening cultural and identity-based resilience. The study concludes that this model, by providing a coherent strategic framework, enhances the community’s capacity for cultural resistance and immunization and contributes to preventing or mitigating the impacts of cultural hegemony and cultural invasion.
